I've had a broody Sussex eat the hatching chicks before now. It was her first (and I havent ever used her since!) time, so I think she was confused and thought they were a threat to her eggs.
She is the only bird I've had do it (yet!) it is heartbreaking, and I feel for you x

I share your hurt, my main broody did similar last week. These were justabout due, so she ate an egg/foetus every other day, she was down to 3 from 7, the last 3 she just walked away from??? Mine has lost the plot due to old age I think, shes coming up for 7 years  Huh.

I may be off the mark here but can you not spray the eggs with an anti peck spray??
